Scientific reports reveal that in many areas redfish (Sebastes marinus) is the main food source for Atlantic halibut. In example scientific research on the stomach content of Atlantic halibut from the important Icelandic fishing grounds in the North Atlantic showed that 75 % of the food by volume was redfish*. The adult redfish is abundant in deep water from 100-1000 m while smaller juveniles are found in Fjords, bays and inshore waters. For fishing in deep water this is the ultimate seafishing jig for halibut.
